Error in Art Description - Complex Exposure Harness

Today, a fan wrote me and asked how I created the picture here, because he was confused by the text I'd written. Could I walk it through in more detail, he asked.I blinked, and pulled up page 112 in "More Shibari You Can Use: Passionate Rope Bondage and Intimate Connection." I stared at the image, read the text, stared at it again. He was right! In writing the text months after shooting the image, I had described what I often do... but not what I had done that day.It is one of the amazing things about rope. We can do it the same way over and over again, and mimic what what others have done as well. Some of this is important for safety reasons, but some of it is for style, focus, or to our tastes. Other times we might choose to take the same ingredients and make something new tonight... or just change up proportions so that tonight's lasagna has a bit more basil as it were.6-Modified-NYC2-2-IMG_2341So, I present more accurate steps in how to tie the Exposure Harness complex variation.1) Lay down all of the "around" ropes for the top 3 blue lines, using reverse-tension larks heads in back, starting at the bottom and working your way up. Tie off at the top using an overhand knot on the standing line. (note that the finished version has 3 blues in the front center, and 4 on the sides. This is referring to the height/placement of the front ropes)2) Attach the folded teal line to the space between the bottom blue ropes in back, and go back and forth with the teal in the space between the blue ropes. Tie off with an overhand knot on the top teal line.3) Use a Munter hitch (as shown on page 72) over the top blue rope in back on one side. Go over the shoulder on that side.4) Create Munter hitches down over the alternating blue, teal, blue, teal and blue lines.5) Having reached the bottom, take the line around to the back of the tie.6) Catch on the back "spine" and do Munter hitches (or loops) up the back of the tie until you reach the other shoulder.7) Go over the shoulder on that side. Create Munter hitches down over the alternating blue, teal, blue, teal and blue lines.8) Having reached the bottom, take the line around to the back of the tie.9) Tie off the teal line in back.10) With the blue rope, go over the shoulder on the inside/side close to the neck from the teal rope.11) Create Munter hitches down over the alternating blue, teal, blue, teal and blue lines.12) Having reached the bottom, take the line around to the back of the tie.13) Catch on the back "spine" and do Munter hitches (or loops) up the back of the tie until you reach the other shoulder.14) Go over the shoulder on that side. Create Munter hitches down over the alternating blue, teal, blue, teal and blue lines.15) Having reached the bottom, take the line around to the back of the tie.16) Tie off the blue line in back.

I hope that helps everyone. It is a beautiful tie and it was fun to create. My model was a hoot, and it was a delight to craft a tie with their body and personal sense of expression in mind. It is one of the amazing things about bondage is that we are playing with the specific person before us, not a generic form... so why not be inspired by them, right?
Lots of love, and happy typing,
Lee
