Drug Use Online, Sex Magic, Consent in D/s, and Body Mods
Hello beautiful beings,
In a week I will be hosting a 2-day intensive called Embodied~Erotic with Meredith Muse, and she and I are buzzing with excitement and last-minute planning. One of the unexpected things that came across our inbox from an attendee was whether drinking, use of drugs, pain meds or psychiatric medicines would be acceptable during the intensive. You see, Meredith and I have been including in the pre-intensive emails (including homework assignments) that when it attendance online, consider what you might have done if it was in person. If you would not have been doing something in person, as yourself whether it feels appropriate here. Well, smoking in person would not have likely been okay due to allergies for folks – but is it online?
So many folks I know hide their use of various substances. There is deep shame around psychiatric medication use, but I will tell you flat out, one of the medicines that I take I honestly believe helped save my life. It is powerful medicine, as are such medicines as marijuana. However issues around individual, paired, and group consent in combination with use (or stopping use) of various things is a tricky topic. I talked about it a bit on the Kink, Intimacy, and Cannabis podcast, and in 2015 dedicated an entire episode of the Passion and Soul podcast to the topic.
It is a complex topic. What are your personal lines concerning being online and use of various medicines or drugs? If attending classes, is it okay to have a drink while on screen?
From coffee and tobacco to marijuana or hard drugs, we each draw our own lines.
Over the past week I have started a Card-a-Day tarot/oracle card draw over on Instagram, which is also being cross-posted to my Twitter and Tumblr accounts, as well as over on my Facebook page. It is being a way for me to share a variety of my tarot and oracle deck collection with the world, share some of my own divination study practice, and will also be using it as part of my work with a program I am doing with Jade T. Perry. I’m also working on my own oracle and tarot decks right now, and it is good inspiration. Perhaps you might enjoy following it as well.
Just a few weeks from now is also my next cohort of the Delving Into Power intensive! We have some tickets left, so feel free to let folks know about this 3-day D/s educational and possibility-expanding experience. Whether you are already in relationship or exploring your own desires outside of a dynamic, this weekend is full of possibility. Here is what a recent attendee said:
“Delving Into Power is an unforgettable experience. Lee has done an amazing job of compiling so many resources and tailors this intensive to all of the participants. Expect to laugh, cry, and maybe even discover something about yourself you never knew. Don’t pass up this opportunity”

How do you endeavor toward creating Power Equity in your sexual and kinky relationships? Power dynamics permeate every part of our lives and interactions. Creating genuine consent culture would be easier if everything was equal; but in our complex world, things are rarely if ever equal. This is true in life, in sex, and in kink. Things become even more complex when adding consensual power exchange dynamics in a society with intrinsic power imbalances. Join our expert panelists in unpacking these complexities and questions:
-What are the unspoken power differentials that degrade a person's capacity to give and receive consent?
-How can power be used, both intentionally and unintentionally, to remove or diminish agency?
-How can you uphold consent with clear communication, while actively engaging differences in power?
-What are the associated risks and erotic benefits?
-How have lived experiences helped the panelists practice better skills?
-How might a kink perspective support global change, social and restorative justice?
This will be a moderated panel discussion with time for audience questions.

The world of sex magic is clouded in mystery, with images of shadowy covens and yogis who possess cults of scantily clad women filling the imagination. However, erotic energy working is simultaneously more complex –and much more accessible – than pop media might have us believe. Sexual contact and connection is a powerful tool to use in our sacred, sensual, and spiritual lives. From the “Great Rite” to dedicated tools, the power of orgasm to the debates about polarity and resonance, we will examine a wide variety of topics surrounding the world and applications of erotic alchemy. Join us as we examine and discuss raising sexual energy to create connection, manifest change in our lives, and affect the world at large.

The world over, body modification is used as a way to express identity whether that is self-identity, cultural (or sub-cultural) affiliation, personal milestones, political views, spiritual connections, or other points of personal expression. Are you aware of the modifications you have already made to live the life you currently have, such as having a specific hair style to blend in with your peer circle, or living at a specific body weight? We will look at the wide variety of body modifications available today (from henna/mehndi to hook hangs, tattoos to ritual jewelry, stage makeup to genital reconstruction surgery, breast augmentation to flesh removal), and discuss the energy and history inherit in each type of modification, and their social implications today. Let's examine together why every act of modifying our flesh can be sacred, and every act can profane no matter the type of alteration, no matter the transformation.
